Hello George! Congratulations – On Her Majesty’s Secret Service has been voted Number 1 in 007 MAGAZINE readers' ‘Greatest Bond Film of All Time Poll’.

How does it feel to know that your Bond film, OHMSS, has been voted Number 1 in 007 MAGAZINE readers' 50th anniversary poll?
To know that my Bond film was voted No 1 makes up for all the folk who thought it wasn't any good, so it evens things out. When I look back on my life, it wasn't the highlight, as it can't compare with having kids that love and respect you.

Why do you think Bond fans love OHMSS so much?
He is not just a killer with no heart, he can fall in love, he is a human who can feel a bit.

What would you pick out as your favourite scene or sequence in OHMSS?
My favourite scene was Diana's death at the end, as I had to act to pull it off – Peter [Hunt] should have used the take where I actually cried. He told me to do the same without the tears, as JB doesn't cry, and used that one.

How does it feel to have starred in a film that is such a significant part of Bond and film history? A film that is still so loved?
It feels pretty good most of the time, except when I read that the producers gave me up. I should have done another Bond film in hindsight, as it's hard for a Bond fan to imagine someone giving up such a wonderful role. The producers spread the word that I was difficult to handle and that stopped my career for a long time.

What is your happiest memory from working on OHMSS?
I had a good time making OHMSS. People were helpful and I got along with almost everyone except the producers, as I wouldn't sign their contract, and still haven't. I did most of my own stunts, was always prepared, never late, and never absent, most of my takes were first takes and I thought all was well. So really, apart from flack from the press which Cubby and Harry gave open season to once they knew I wasn't going to sign it was all good. The love scenes were the best, especially the one with Diana. Looking back I had a good time all the time, was out most nights after I did press, which was every night.

Thank you George, and congratulations again on your Bond film OHMSS being voted Number 1 in the 007 MAGAZINE readers poll!
