Skyfall premieres in China in a censored version
Skyfall premieres in China in a censored version

Skyfall, might have taken in over a billion dollars at the global box office, but that doesn’t make it bullet-proof in the eyes of the Chinese censors. Skyfall premieres in China this week in a slightly different version to that screened for western audiences.

Few English-language movies get released in China and Skyfall has been targeted by authorities who have taken offence at some scenes. The shooting of a security guard by hitman Patrice (Ola Rapace) is removed completely. The Chinese subtitles are tweaked in the Macao casino scenes where Bond asks hostess Sévérine (Bérénice Lim Marlohe) if her wrist tattoo stems from being forced into prostitution at young age. In China, the meaning is altered to hint that Bond is asking her about connections to the mob. References made by Bond villain, Silva (Javier Bardem) to the torture he suffered at the hands of Chinese security forces are also changed in the Chinese subtitles.

007 MAGAZINE reviews Skyfall
Skyfall (2012)

October 12 2012 -  Skyfall the 23rd Bond film in the EON series, was previewed for the first time in front of an audience of critics and the world's media. 007 MAGAZINE was in attendance for this historic event and Luke Williams is happy to report that Daniel Craig's third Bond film is a sure-fire winner.

A palpable sense of anticipation was in the air at the ODEON Leicester Square on Friday evening as, two weeks ahead of its general release in the UK and 12 days ahead of its official world première at the Royal Albert Hall, Skyfall was screened in front of what Marc-Ange Draco would doubtless describe as "distinguished members of the world's press". Before the screening began Peter Taylor, Managing Director of Sony Pictures UK, took to the stage to plead with the audience to keep their own counsel after the film and "allow the general public to enjoy the film the way you will tonight", only adding to the feverish expectation that what we were about to see was a Bond film with an unusual amount of unexpected twists and turns...

Adele Skyfall cover

October 1 2012; Columbia Records; New York, NY

Adele will premiere her latest recording “SKYFALL”, the official theme song to the upcoming 007 adventure of the same name, globally via her official site www.Adele.tv on Friday October 5th at 0:07 BST/London time (7:07pm EST on October 4th), the track will be available to purchase as a download immediately after this premiere. The track is available for pre-order at iTunes http://smarturl.it/AdeleSkyfall. October 5th marks the 50th anniversary of the release of Dr. No, and thus the James Bond film franchise, and will be celebrated as Global James Bond Day.

After reading the script for the film, Adele enlisted Paul Epworth to co-write and produce the theme song to Skyfall Adele admits, “I was a little hesitant at first to be involved with the theme song for Skyfall. There's a lot of instant spotlight and pressure when it comes to a Bond song. But I fell in love with the script and Paul had some great ideas for the track and it ended up being a bit of a no brainer to do it in the end. It was also a lot of fun writing to a brief, something I've never done which made it exciting. When we recorded the strings, it was one of the proudest moments of my life. I’ll be back combing my hair when I'm 60 telling people I was a Bond girl back in the day I'm sure!” Recorded at Abbey Road Studios in London, Skyfall features the lush accompaniment of a 77-piece orchestra.

Skyfall the movie, will be released on October 26, 2012 in the UK and on November 9, 2012 in the U.S.
